Nominate HER Awards presented
to seven excellent role models
Seven amazing women, all deemed excellent role models, were honored on May 21 at Houston Woman Magazine’s Fourth Annual Nominate HER Awards Luncheon.
Those honored at the luncheon included Dianah Dulany, Hashmat Effendi, Elaine Johnson, R.N., Kay King, Victoria Noble, Barbara Schlattman and Crystal Washington. (You can read about each of these recipients and the reasons they were selected by following the link below.)
Held at La Colombe d’Or Mansion, the event was attended by more than 100 professional men and women. All came to mix and mingle, enjoy a great event and support the Nominate HER Awards Program and its missions.
In addition to paying tribute to the seven honorees, the luncheon benefits the Houston Woman Scholarship Fund. The fund was established to provide scholarships for senior students in print journalism at the Jack Valenti School of Communications at the University of Houston. During this year’s luncheon, Dr. Beth Olson, director of the Valenti School, was on hand to accept this year’s scholarship pledge.
Among the program’s generous supporters were seven women who stepped forward to serve as award sponsors. They include Susan Boggio, Becky Dunn of Metromarketing Services, Inc., Chris Noble of Marnoble Computer Sales & Service, Vickie Milazzo of the Vickie Milazzo Institute, Evalyn Shea of Shea Writing & Training Solutions, Pamela Wright of Wright Pawn & Jewelry Co. and The Reverend Shay St. John of Unity Church of North Houston.
Others contributing to the success of the event were Theresa Behenna, who played the piano during the reception; Karen McCullough, who provided copies of her book, “Seven Women Project,” to all attendees; and Flowers by Nino for the gorgeous table arrangements.
