Sounds of Recovery

In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, the Houston Symphony will present Sounds of Recovery, a free and open-to-the-public concert devoted to the Greater Houston and Gulf Coast communities to honor volunteers and first responders at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Grace Community Church, 14505 Gulf Freeway (Intersection of I-45 and Dixie Farm Road).

Maestro Hans Graf will conduct the full orchestra in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espanol, excerpts from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony which inspires listeners to experience struggle and triumph, Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and portions of Dvo**k’s New World Symphony.

Doors to the 4,000-plus seat Grace Community Church will open at 6:30.
