Candid Conversation with Alan Alda

The show goes on! Multiple award-winning actor, director and writer Alan Alda will come to Houston this Saturday, Sept. 27, as featured guest in the Intown Chamber of Commerce’s Candid Conversations series.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place at the Virginia S. Tatham Fine Arts Center on the campus of St. John’s School, 2401 Claremont at Westheimer. The program begins at 7 p.m. and includes an evening of conversation with Alda. Afterwards, he will be available to sign copies of his book, "Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself."

Moderator for the Candid Conversations series is Peter Roussel.

Roussel commented, “Cancel and re-schedule? To the contrary, we felt such an evening could be of service to our citizens by offering them a few hours of diversion and entertainment that focuses on something other than Ike. Hopefully, having Mr. Alda here will be a great tonic for all our spirits when it is most needed.”

Alan Alda is the winner of numerous awards, including six Emmys and six Golden Globes, and has been nominated for an Academy Award. He played Hawkeye Pierce on the classic television series “M*A*S*H” and also wrote and directed many of the episodes.

Previous guests in the Candid Conversations series have included former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III, legendary White House reporter Helen Thomas, former ABC-TV news anchor Sam Donaldson, Food Television Network star Paula Deen and CBS sportscaster Jim Nantz.

Tickets are $35 for members of the Houston Intown Chamber of Commerce and $45 for non-members. For more information and to purchase tickets, contact Sheila Astley at 713-524-8000.
