EVENT BARC Adoption Event

BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions is holding its biggest offsite adoption event ever at a local Petco on Saturday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Bow Wow Meow Luau mega adoption event will feature $20 dog adoptions and “Name Your Price” cat adoptions. A minimum $5 cat adoption fee is required for the “Name Your Price” promotion.

The event will take place at the Petco located at 4431 FM 1960 Road West, Houston, TX 77014. Click here for a map to the location. Complete with hula skirts, leis and wading pools for dogs, the event will feature more than 75 adoptable dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.

“The event provides Houstonians with the opportunity to open their homes to these dogs and cats so that none of them ever have to set foot in a shelter again,” said Carlene Lormand, BARC's marketing and outreach manager. “Our goal is to find a home for all 75 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens and return to BARC without a single animal.”

Potential adopters can learn more about BARC’s adoption process including basic eligibility requirements by visiting the "About Adopting at BARC" on BARC’s website. All animals offered for adoption are spayed or neutered and have received age-appropriate vaccinations, a City license tag and a microchip. Additionally, canine adopters receive a free voucher for a six-week AKC obedience training class at BARC’s facility.

The event will also feature nutrition seminars and several valuable workshops for Houston pet owners including Bringing Home Your Adopted Dog, Puppy Playtimes and Emergency Preparedness (sponsored by Blue Buffalo). Pet food vendors including Blue Buffalo, Bill-Jac, Natural Balance and Nutro will also attend the event.

Several local Petco locations are helping to sponsor the Bow Wow Meow adoption event. Petco is a valuable adoption partner and holds weekly adoption events at several local locations each week. For more information about BARC’s offsite adoption events, click here.

Individuals or families that enjoy the company of pets but are unable to permanently adopt a dog or cat are encouraged to become a volunteer foster pet parent. BARC fosters temporarily take dogs, puppies, cats or kittens into their homes until the pet is ready for adoption. Find out more about BARC’s pet foster program by visiting BARC’s website. Individuals interested in learning more about becoming a BARC volunteer can visit thevolunteer page of the shelter’s website.
