ALERT: Rice gets $20 mil from CRPIT

The Cancer Research and Prevention Institute of Texas awarded $20 million for a new pre-commercialization center at Rice University’s BioScience Research Collaborative, designed to bring new technologies and therapies to the market sooner to prevent, treat, and cure cancer. The BRC is located at the corner of South Main Street and University Boulevard.

The Houston-Area Translational Research Consortium, along with the new Institute for Applied Cancer Science t The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, will operate the center.

The goal is to connect researchers from Rice and Texas Medical Center institutions and entrepreneurs with funding and management experts. In addition to creating innovative oncology products and technologies, HATRC and IACS will raise the profile of Houston’s medical center over the next decade, which will generate high-quality jobs and economic growth.
