The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has announced that 108 shelters across the nation have been selected to compete in the Rachel Ray $100K Challenge.

The BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions and Houston Humane Society are among those chosen to compete. Fans and supporters can vote for their favorite shelter daily from noon on April 5 until midnight on April 16 at www.votetosavelives.org.

Once the 50 competing shelters are selected, the ASPCA and Rachel Ray will award the grand prize to the shelter contestant that achieves the greatest increase in animal lives saved from August through October, 2012.
