Frosty going OnStage

Opening  November 12, The Company OnStage will present Frosty the Snowman, by Rob Howard, with two shows every Saturday through December 17, 2011.

This delightful adaptation by a Company OnStage resident playwright brings Frosty alive with charm and holiday history.  Frosty was “born” in 1950 first as a song written by Walter “Jack” Rollins and Steve Nelson. Frosty the Snowman joined Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and became another hit record for Gene Autry. Since then, there have been children’s books, an animated short and the 1969 television classic with the legendary Jimmy Durante narrating and Jackie Vernon as the voice of Frosty.

The Company OnStage version is an imaginative re-telling of the song. Frosty faces a dilemma. How can he and his new young friends save the job of the station manager, Mr. Bucket, if the train station closes down? Magnificent Max, the vaguely sinister proprietor of the Magical Musical Menagerie, comes to town and offers Frosty a starring role in his traveling revue - the Snowman would have fame, fortune and all the ice cream he can eat!  It’s Magnificent Max versus true friendship and a magical hat! What will Frosty do?

The Company OnStage presents Frosty the Snowman with affection and joy. The play celebrates the holiday spirit with music, dance and comedy. Frosty the Snowman will be presented every Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from November 12 through December 17, 2011. Regular ticket price is $8 for adults and children. Coupon books for group rates are available, and reservations are strongly recommended.
