CanCare partners with CenterPoint

A cancer diagnosis can have a tremendous impact, both on the patient and on relatives and friends. To help support employees whose lives have been touched by cancer, CenterPoint Energy has established a partnership with CanCare, Inc., a nonprofit cancer support organization that matches those who have been diagnosed with cancer with a survivor of the same or similar type of cancer. CanCare’s network of trained volunteers, including cancer survivors and family members, provide emotional support to others facing cancer as patients or caregivers.

Studies show that one out of every four employees in a company will be diagnosed with cancer during his career. Many of them will choose to work while battling the disease. To help companies and their employees manage the personal and emotional cost of cancer, CanCare takes its powerful message of hope into the workplace through corporate partnerships.

“Cancer touches the lives of virtually everyone, directly or indirectly. CenterPoint Energy is proud to support the compassionate efforts of CanCare volunteers, who draw strength from their own experience as cancer survivors to give support and hope to others," said Carla Kneipp, vice president, Audit Services, CenterPoint Energy.

CanCare provides:
• Customized, confidential support to cancer patients and their family members
• Support for associates in the workplace touched either directly or indirectly by cancer
• Toolkits to help supervisors manage workgroups affected by cancer
• Referrals to other cancer resources in the community

CenterPoint Energy joins CanCare’s 21 other corporate partners, including Amegy Bank, Cameron, BMC Software, CB Richard Ellis, ConocoPhillips, El Paso and Oceaneering, to name a few. If your company is interested in creating a nurturing work environment and focuses on health and wellness and would like to offer CanCare's services as a benefit to your employees, contact CanCare at 713-461-0028 or toll free at 888-461-0028.
