Rally set to "Bring Shuttle Home"

Houston Mayor Annise Parker and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, along with Richard Allen, president of Space Center Houston, and surviving family members of the Columbia and Challenger shuttle disasters, will host the "Bring the Shuttle Home Rally" on Wednesday, April 6 at 12:30 a.m. The event is slated in front of City Hall near the reflecting pool.

On April 12, NASA will announce the future homes of the retiring space shuttles. Houston is, of course, the home of the Johnson Space Center and mission control. The shuttles were designed here and astronauts live and train in Houston. Much of NASA's work today is still based from Houston. The rally is part of a broad campaign to show Washington that one of the shuttles belongs in Houston.
