Free Concert in Rice Gallery

Students from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music will perform a concert for visitors at the Rice Gallery on Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m.

The concert is free and open to the public and will feature new works inspired by the Gallery's current installation, Mary Temple’s "Northwest Corner, Southeast Light."

Graduate student Max Pipinich and senior Rachel Sandman are Shepherd School musicians who organized the event. The composers of the four new pieces are also students at the Shepherd School. Senior Keith Allegretti wrote "Projections," senior Mindy Chen wrote "Installation," senior Ross Griffey wrote "Dancing Shadows" and junior Hilary Purrington wrote "Fixed Mediums."

An encore performance will be held in Rice Gallery on April 10 at 3 p.m.

Last fall Pipinich organized a concert of new music in the Rice Gallery space to coincide with to Sarah Oppenheimer's installation "D-17," which was on exhibition at the time.

The Rice Gallery is located on the Rice campus, 6100 Main St.
