Healthcare Reform subject of panel

A leading hospital CEO, insurance CEO and health economist will discuss the "Implications of Health Care Reform for Business" in a panel discussion on Monday, March 7 at 5 p.m. on the Rice University campus in McNair Hall's Shell Auditorium.

Panelists include Michael McCallister, the chairman of the board and CEO of Humana; John Mendelsohn, president of MD Anderson Cancer Center; and Vivian Ho, the Baker Institute Chair in Health Economics at Rice. Rice University Provost George McLendon will serve as the moderator.

They will discuss the sweeping changes made to health insurance and health care by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The panelists will talk about how it will alter the way employers insure their workers, the way hospitals and doctors deliver health care and the prices and quality of health care and insurance for all Americans.

The event is sponsored by Rice's Jones Graduate School of Business and the Baker Institute for Public Policy. It is a special event in the Jones Partners Thought Leadership Series, which brings Houston's business community together with Rice faculty and students to hear from the leaders of various sectors.

The event is free and open to the public; however, registration is required at http://business.rice.edu/Jones_Baker/.
