Scholarships going to local youth

The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command will award over $26,000 in scholarships to local youth at the annual Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Scholarship Awards Banquet tomorrow night at the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel.

Dozens of Boys & Girls Clubs members will be present at the big event, some delivering their winning speech competition entries. The Youth of the Year Program focuses on leadership, volunteerism, and a speech competition sponsored by The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Houston and The Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
