HBU names Student Life Director

Houston Baptist University Provost Paul J. Bonicelli has announced the appointment of Whit Goodwin as Director of Student Life. Goodwin most recently served as coordinator of the Samford Scholars Program at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.

Goodwin held several positions in student life at Samford University, including oversight of residence halls and Greek housing and leadership of a residence life staff responsible for the development and implementation of student involvement, social and educational programs. He has also organized and served as a motivational and educational speaker on the subjects of social involvement and cultural understanding at student conferences throughout North America and Western Europe.

“The University is excited about the arrival of Whit Goodwin to lead our Student Life efforts,” said HBU Provost Paul J. Bonicelli. “Whit’s background in leading and guiding students as a professional at a similar institution is ideal, but his work in ministry and his theological training make him an even more attractive addition to our residential society of learning.”

Goodwin has a B.A. in religion and a Master of Divinity from Samford University and a M.A. in higher education administration from the University of Alabama.

Houston Baptist University is an independent, private Christian liberal arts institution with a diverse student body. HBU is dedicated to the development of the intellect, the moral character and the spiritual lives of its students. For more information, visit www.hbu.edu.
