Railroad Commissioner to speak here

Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones, an expert in Texas energy policy and leader in coastal issues, will be discussing the BP oil spill and the negative impacts of the offshore drilling moratorium to the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) organization on Tuesday, June 22 at 4 p.m. at the Bell Tower, 901 W. 34th Street in Houston.

A sixth-generation Texan, Jones was elected three times to the Texas House of Representatives before her appointment in 2005 to the Texas Railroad Commission. In November 2006 she was elected to serve a six-year term.

She currently serves as the Railroad Commission's representative to the Coastal Coordination Council, the Coastal Land Advisory Board and is a member of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.
