Jobs in New Economy

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the unemployment rate is likely to stay “high for a while.” Meanwhile, the unemployment rate continues a slow drop — hovering at eight percent in Texas, right below the national average. This discouraging news has job-seekers wondering, “Where are the jobs in today’s economy?”

American InterContinental University wants to help job-seekers figure out just that information.

AIU Houston is hosting Jobs in the New Economy, an event with a host of speakers who will highlight opportunities and challenges within key job industries. Attendees will have a chance to win the opportunity to shadow a business professional in order to learn – and perhaps get a foot in the door – at the company they visit. One opportunity will be awarded at each speaker session.

The complimentary event is open to the public and will focus on business, criminal justice, information technology and visual communication industries. It is geared for those unemployed and looking for a job, those who are employed and looking to switch careers or those looking to take the next step in their current career.

Key speakers will include: Lois Gibson, world renowned forensic artist and co-author of Faces of Evil; Rhonda Gilbo, a well-known marketing consultant and owner of Prosperity Realty Group; John Whaley, vice-chairman of information technology at SCORE; and Louis Lopez, owner of a small information technology company.

American InterContinental University is located at 9999 Richmond Ave.
