Highest Pledges to be honored by Komen

The Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® will honor its top 100 fundraisers from the 2008 Race for the Cure® at the Pink Honor Roll Party, Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel Houston.

The Pink Honor Roll Party is an exclusive event, hosted by KRIV Fox 26 Anchor Melissa Wilson, that will honor the individuals that contributed the most to the $3.8 million total raised at the 2008 Komen Houston Race for the Cure®.

The Pink Honor Roll is a wonderfully diverse group, from all walks of life, ranging in age from 14 to 71 years. Forty-four of the Pink Honor Roll members are survivors with the youngest survivors being 30 years old, and 12 of this year’s members are male.

The Komen Houston Pledge Program has broken records the past several years soaring from $175,000 in 2002 to $2.4 million in 2008. The top 100 fundraisers in 2008 brought in over $650,000 with the top 10 bringing in over $200,000 alone. The top 10 Pink Honor Roll members include: Gail Duke, Galleria; Ann Cazalot, Memorial; Anne LeBlanc, Sharpstown; Molly Bobrow, Jersey Village; Dorothy Paterson, Tanglewood; Allen Wilson, Memorial; Eileen Campbell, Memorial; Lauri Stephenson, Conroe; Jan Miller, Champions; and Kathy Nicholson, Houston

This year, the Komen Houston Race for the Cure will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Downtown Houston. Over 30,000 participants, including 1,600 breast cancer survivors, are expected to take part in this year’s activities.
