Lee Ann Elvig is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. By serving as a CanCare volunteer, this two-time cancer survivor spends her time spreading the message of hope that she was once given. In the past decade, Lee Ann has supported more than 40 women dealing with a diagnosis of breast cancer. She is a registered nurse and attorney. Lee Ann decided not to return to practicing law after working with CanCare but decided instead to become better prepared to help cancer survivors by becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. She recently received a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston. She and her husband Mark have three children.

Maria Emee Nisnisan has been a member of the Philippine Nurses Association of Metropolitan Houston since 2004 and currently serves as Chairman of the Community Outreach Committee. Maria has used her leadership skills and her servant’s heart to organize and lead numerous activities and services. She has organized a breast cancer education program and Cheer-Up Campaigns for the underserved. Maria aids nurses and students in setting up health fairs and screenings and organizing other projects for their own communities. Maria is the wife of Josier Nisnisan, M.D. and the mother of four children.

Saundra McNeese is assistant director of the Consistency Management Department at the University of Houston. Though she had a son at 16, she finished high school and attended junior college. After her son was grown, Saundra's choices led to a lifestyle filled with alcohol and cocaine. In 1996, she checked into a recovery facility where she learned about The Women's Home. Saundra's courage to change is impacting the lives of other women. She sponsors and mentors women going through recovery by helping them get to meetings and seminars. Saundra helped launch the Alcoholics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous Ministries at her home church. She was most recently ordained a minister in the Church of God.

Alecia Lawyer is the founder and principal oboist of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. In its two seasons, Alecia has established an office, hired a staff, created an intern position for students at the Rice University Shepherd School of Music and recruited top musicians and conductors. The concerts are family-friendly; the childcare offered during concerts is complete with music education classes. Other initiatives led by Alecia to involve the audience in the musician’s experience include inviting several concertgoers to sit on stage with the orchestra during the opening piece and the sharing of "gig stories." The concert hall, St. John the Divine Church, is consistently filled during concert season.

Sandy Harris is a community volunteer and a wardrobe consultant Steinmart. She has volunteered with SEARCH, Houston’s Alternative to Homelessness, for nearly 20 years and serves meals to Houston’s homeless population weekly. Through her involvement with the National Council of Jewish women, Sandy has raised funds for Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse and helped provide clothing for women using their services. She visits children at Texas Children’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital as a professional clown named HaHa. As co-chair of the Gordon Elementary School Arts Project, she coordinates field trips to and on-site performances by many local arts organizations. Sandy was nominated by her daughter.

Margo Geddie is Senior Vice President of Wealth Management at Smith Barney. She left her successful career in banking to become a stockbroker in 1992. Margo began by making 300 cold-calls per week to receiving Chairman’s Council status at Smith Barney, which means she is in the top quintile for annualized growth production amongst other wealth managers at her firm. She is also a Certified Investment Management Analyst. Margo was a pioneer in bringing together the Catholic Church and Planned Parenthood to provide a post-abortion counseling group to women. Her daughter, Ashley, is following her footsteps and now works for Smith Barney in Dallas.

Katie Jacobs is a student at Progressive High School and a young entrepreneur. At the age of 15, she had the chance to turn her interest in designing clothes into a reality. She combined this passion with her faith and started a Christian-based t-shirt company, Generation Xodus. Her modern t-shirt designs are based on her Bible readings. Katie gives all profits from her t-shirt sales to organizations that invite her to sell them at their events. She has helped raise several thousand dollars for the T.W. Davis YMCA's summer Partners Program. Katie is exploring the five-year accounting program at the University of Houston.

Carole Wills is the head of the Briarwood School. She has dedicated her professional life to educating children with special learning needs. Through her wisdom, calm demeanor, insights into people and deft instructional style, teachers, parents and children at the Briarwood School reach their goals. Graduates often contact her as they progress through young adulthood to say "Thank You" and offer their own commentary on how Carole helped form their early lives and education. Carole has also maintained a talented staff and led the school through numerous site reviews, benefits, emergencies and capital campaigns.
